Rhythm On Canvas is a brain child that came to life after having lost my father to lung disease, COPD to be specific. It was a way for me to express my creative side while doing something good for a cause that hits very close to home with the American Lung Association. All proceeds from ROC benefit the local chapter of the ALA and their mission to help save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease.
2015 ROC took on a new form, literally, we decided to take the artwork into our own hands. After a 10 year hiatus from performing I decided to put my performance pants back on and pick up the charcoal with one of my oldest friends, Ellis Bradford. We choreographed a piece in which our movement created the canvas. It was liberating to put ourselves out there again, to say the least.
The event was held at Holy City Brewery with a silent auction full of some incredibly generous donations from all across Charleston. The Little White Box Traveling Photo Booth was there, an epic communal game of life size Jenga was played, and we even had vintage cars out for a photo op. from Lowcountry Valet.
We cannot say it enough, to all of our supporters, THANK YOU! Each year you come out and bring the community spirit for a cause that is so close to our hearts. We have an amazing community and we could not be more grateful for your support. A special thanks to Jeanne Mitchum Photography for capturing all of the fun!
Keep your eyes peeled for all of the exciting updates on 2016 ROC. You won’t want to miss what we have in store!
